Fat-Free Gracewriting

Wimpy writing just doesn’t get results!  Gracewriting teaches you to write with power by being clear, concise and correct. We help you write with grace by putting your reader’s needs first.

Fat-Free Gracewriting is our module that focuses on writing clearly and concisely.  In today’s lightening-fast business environment, no one has time to read wordy emails, letters, or proposals. Murky writing certainly isn’t going to get us from the RFP to the shortlist. It’s time to put our writing on a diet!

Our workshop involves a lot more than putting pen to paper. We play games. We compete. We make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! What does that have to do with better writing?  Everything!  Be ready to be big and bold as you experience Gracewriting.

The Human Connection: Bring Your Presentations to Life!
Want to raise your shortlist interview hit rate? Want to promote your firm through speaking engagements? Want more confidence when you speak in public? Strengthen your presentation skills in this fun, interactive workshop. 

Through teaching, discussion, theater exercises, and coaching, you’ll learn to engage and energize your listeners. We’ll help you identify and drop nervous habits. You’ll find out how to prepare and practice your material, use props and graphics wisely, and breathe life into “boring” technical presentations!

You’ll learn much more than just public speaking skills. These principles apply to all types of interpersonal communication - from one-on-one and team meetings to networking/social events and phone calls. Due to our hands-on approach, this teaching goes well beyond intellectual understanding. You’ll actually experience the presentation/communication principles being taught!

SPEAKER BIOS

Carol Doscher, President & CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer), has connected with audiences since she performed in Broadway’s "Sweeney Todd." And it’s not so far from the boards of Broadway to the boardrooms of America. Since founding Graceworks Inc. in 1995, she has trained hundreds of AEC professionals worldwide to make that vital "human connection" in sales presentations, client meetings and lectures. Having been featured in The New York Times and on Bloomberg television, Carol also has published numerous articles on presentation skills. Prior to her current work, she marketed design and construction services for many years.

Responding to the growing need for the human connection in the corporate world, Carol is a certified practitioner of Whole Brain^® Thinking – a great tool to help people understand and leverage their own thinking preferences.

Jen Hebblethwaite, Champion of All Things Grace, is stationed in Graceworks Atlanta office.  From commercial real estate to coaching Atlanta’s finest Men in Blue at the Forest Park Police Department, Jen is an experienced corporate trainer. She’s spent 10 years as a Teaching Artist for a Tony Award-winning theatre and has taught everything from playwriting to MBA Leadership / Communication on an undergraduate and graduate level. She is foremost a compassionate coach and trainer, but as our rogue academic, Jen also gets excited about things like semantics and semicolons. She heads up our Gracewriting^® program and is certified in Whole Brain® Thinking, which is designed to use every last brain cell.  Jen’s teaching style is big and bold, and she can’t wait to help you help your listeners!

Come stay all day with your SMPS buddies! We will start promptly at 8:00 am with breakfast and the first session, "Fat-Free Gracwriting." This will run approximately two hours and then we will go directly into "The Human Connection:  Bring Your Presentions to Life!". This will also run approximately two hours, followed by lunch. As a special, special, bonus, we have the room at The
Employers Assocation until 4:30 pm. Bring your laptop! Once we have lunch, you can work there all afternoon with free Wi-Fi. Several SMPS Charlotte Board Members will be there also working and available to discuss any burning issues you might have in the industry right now. This is a great way to spend a productive, full day out of the office networking and working with your fellow SMPS Charlotte friends.

Cancellations made 72-hours prior to the event will receive a refund. Due to our commitment with the meeting facility for food and beverage quantities, all other cancellations or no-shows will be invoiced for the full cost of the event.
