Join SMPS Charlotte on Thursday, May 16 between 3:00 - 5:00 PM as we tour the next 49ers Residence Hall to open! UNC Charlotte students will occupy the Phase X or Walnut Residence Hall this summer!

We will meet at 3:00 PM sharp behind the Student Union (see parking information below). The group will then walk across the pedestrian bridge to the project site.

Project Specifications:
This newest phase of student housing on the campus of UNC Charlotte, Walnut Residence Hall, will house 426 students.  The unit mix for the building will include 390 beds in a four-bedroom, apartment-style unit with an additional 36 beds in two-bedroom suites. The apartments will be equipped with full kitchens and washers and dryers. Common areas in the new building will include a group kitchen, multipurpose rooms, laundry rooms, study rooms and lounges. The design of the building is a courtyard scheme with the primary wings being the east, south and west wings. The existing pedestrian walkway between Miltimore and Walnut Residence Halls will be redesigned along with pedestrian connectivity to the rest of campus.

Attire. Please arrive at the tour prepared to enter a construction site. You will need a hard hat (if you have one, please bring it) and closed flat shoes (no sneakers!).

Parking. Please park in the Union Deck. There is a pedestrian bridge behind the Student Union that will link you to the tour site. School is not in session so there should be spots available, but there will probably be a charge for this. Please do not violate the parking regulations as there is an $80 fine.

Tour Begins at Pedestrian Bridge behind the Student Union. We will walk to the site. If you miss us at the bridge, please go to the front of the construction site on Cameron Boulevard to catch up with us. There is NO parking available at the jobsite!
