Please join us for a Presentation and Site Tour, sponsored by LandDesign and Wildlands Engineering. NC registered Landscape Architect, Beth Poovey, and civil engineer, Emily Reinicker, will give a presentation on the planning process that LandDesign and Wildlands Engineering went through to create the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. This impressive and unique park is situated between the north of downtown Charlotte and the South Carolina state line. The greenway extends over 15 miles and traverses 17 neighborhoods; is crossed by roads 23 times, and passes by 8 shopping centers, 10 schools, and 6 parks. While touring the greenway, we will visit several of the areas featured on the map below between 1 mile Metropolitan and Morehead Street stretch. Following the tour, we will have a Q&A with Beth Poovey and Emily Reinicker over a drink and appetizers during happy hour at Hickory Tavern*.
Beth Poovey, RLA has over 16 years' experience with greenway, trail, streetscape and park design. Combining her sociology and landscape architecture degree, her focus and passion has evolved into planning and design of urban open space that authentically integrates community assets with environmental stewardship opportunities. beth served as the design team's Project Manager for the Little Sugar Creek Greenway Master Plan and urban sections.
Emily Reinicker, PE, CFM has 16 years of professional experience in water resources and civil engineering, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, natural channel design, watershed analysis, and storm water management. She has been involved in the design of more than 50,000 LF of stream restoration and enhancement work in urban settings and 73,000 LF of streams in rural settings of NC. The Little Sugar Creek initiative has been one of Emily’s career highlights: a great opportunity to highlight Charlotte’s water resources. Emily serves as a senior engineer for Wildlands Engineering, a firm specializing in stream and wetland restoration with a particular focus on innovative engineering for ecosystem renewal.

*If the outdoor walking portion of the tour gets rained out, Beth Poovey and Emily Reinicker will extend the indoor presentation at Hickory Tavern.
